About Jayd
My name is Jayd Rowan DeSalvo, and I've chosen teaching English as a way to ease the paths of others. I wanted to make a difference, and I wondered, "What can I do? I'm just one person who loves books and languages." I am fortunate that those things crossover with teaching. Learning a second language can be difficult and frustrating- especially one with as many rules and exceptions as English has- but in our world where international cooperation and communication is a necessity, learning a language beyond your native tongue is an invaluable skill. I want to help as many people as I can be able to reach out to as many people as they can.

I like to keep lessons to 30 minutes in order to prevent burnout and keep students focused. Lessons typically begin with a brief ice-breaking activity to get students engaged and receptive, followed by a review of the new vocabulary. The vocabulary is solidified with an activity, followed by a grammar lesson. I like to blend the vocabulary within the grammar brief in order to further cement the information with students. The tutoring session ends with recommendations for how to practise solo, as well as a short homework assignment for returning students. I offer lessons for students of all ages, from child to adult, and competency ranging from beginner to intermediate.
