About Vanessa
I began learning Italian my freshman year of university and graduated with a comprehensive fluency of the language and culture! In between, I studied abroad, made Italian friends, interned for an Italian organization and traveled to Italy solo. I quickly established confidence in my language skills, mostly through context-based, forward-facing experiences. However, I still work diligently every day to maintain my skills. Language is something I believe I need to completely immerse myself in in order to fully grasp the culture, tone, atmosphere and connection. Let me help you do the same!

I value experiential learning, where the student can see, hear and engage in the material beginning at the center point. Reading and writing are taught through various meaningful tools -- literature, current events, communication -- and language fluency is maintained through incorporating it into everyday life. A typical lesson plan may involve reading materials, writing prompts and, most importantly, personal choice.
The student should be able to understand the language through a cultural and modern lens as well. Learning a new language should initiate a connection and sense of individuality. I strive for each student to have an intuitive understanding, through immersion, context-based learning.
