About Kendall
Hi! I’m Kendall, a California-credentialed teacher dedicated to helping middle school students master the "tough" subjects. With a Master’s in Education and five years of classroom experience across California and Nevada, I understand the unique academic and social-emotional transitions that happen during the middle school years. My background is a bit unique—I hold a B.S. in Kinesiology from Humboldt State, which allows me to bring a "body-brain" connection to my STEM tutoring. Whether we are exploring the physics of a free throw or the biology of cellular respiration, I help students see that science isn't just in a textbook—it's happening in their own bodies and the world around them. How I Teach I don’t believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. My sessions are built on Inquiry-Based Learning and intentional differentiation. I use multiple pathways to ensure the material sticks: Visual & Digital: Using interactive simulations and color-coded scaffolding. Kinesthetic: Drawing on my Kinesiology roots to use movement and real-world models. Strategic: Teaching the "why" behind the "what," so students can tackle new problems independently. Why Choose a Professional Teacher? As an active classroom teacher, I am an expert in NGSS (Science) and Common Core (Math) standards. I know exactly where students tend to get stuck and how they will be graded on their lab reports and exams. My goal is to bridge the gap between confusion and confidence, turning "I can't do this" into "I've got this." I look forward to helping your student reach their full potential!

My Approach: Inquiry, Choice, and Mastery I believe middle schoolers learn best when they are active participants in their own education, not just passive listeners. My lessons are built on three professional pillars: 1. Inquiry-Based Learning Instead of starting with a definition, I start with a phenomenon. Whether we are investigating why a soda can crushes under air pressure or how a basketball’s energy changes at the peak of a jump ball, I use the inquiry method. I guide students to ask the "Why" and "How" questions, helping them build their own conclusions based on evidence. This mirrors the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) used in California classrooms and develops critical thinking that lasts far beyond the test. 2. Multiple Pathways to Learning (VARK) Every student has a unique "learning thumbprint." I design multimodal lessons that engage all senses: Visual: Custom diagrams, color-coded notes, and interactive digital simulations. Auditory: Socratic questioning and verbal "talk-throughs" of complex problems. Kinesthetic: Leveraging my Kinesiology background to use physical movement and "at-home" labs to demonstrate physics and biology concepts. 3. Intentional Differentiation With a Master’s in Education, I specialize in "meeting the student where they are." If a student is a high-achiever, I provide "extension" inquiries to deepen their logic. If a student is struggling, I use scaffolding—breaking a large Algebra problem or a complex Biology cycle into bite-sized, manageable chunks. I adjust the pace, the tools, and the language to ensure every session ends with a feeling of success, not frustration.

Great teacher. The kids love her. She breaks stuff down easily for them to grasp the concepts. I would absolutely recommend Kendall for all tutoring needs.
Mrs. Mena is one of the most integral teachers I have ever met. She takes time to work with her students find their needs, and then support them through the areas that they are struggling in. She makes learning fun!
Kendall rocks! She is patient and kind and extremely professional. She tutored and cared for me for almost two years I hated to see her go but I knew she was destined for bigger things!
Kendall is an exceptional educator who goes above and beyond the call of just being an instructor. As she exemplifies within her role as a teacher day in and day out, Kendall was also the most amazing volunteer for a non-profit organization I am an executive of that works with children who are terminal and or battling life threatening illness. What makes Kendall undeniably special is her attention to detail, her patience, and yes, her passion for being an educator, but most of all its leading with an empathetic heart and open mind that separates Kendall from the field. She cares about each and every student individually and that is what makes having Kendall as a tutor truly priceless.
Kendall is one of the most integral and patient tutors ever. She ensures that students understand the content before moving on. She makes it fun, interesting, and uses all of her skills to make sure that students learn, and see the successes that they achieve!
