About Lilia Marie
I received my MA in Classics from the University of Maryland, with a 4.0 GPA; my research focused on applying the insights of modern psychology & trauma to ancient poetry. Along the way, I helped teach undergraduates mythology and history, and I won the NIAF Pellegri Fellowship for my research on Augustine. I am now a graduate student at the University of Chicago, where I have worked with medieval Latin texts and rare renaissance manuscripts! Before getting my MA, I spent a year teaching English as a Second Language, and I try as a tutor to bring the insights from teaching ESL into teaching ancient languages.

I love ancient literature, and my goal as a tutor is to help it come to life for you! For Latin students, I'm trained in both traditional grammar-translation methods, as well as spoken/"living" Latin. As a former ESL teacher, I believe that many students can benefit from learning Latin through the natural method, especially students who have struggled to learn Latin in a traditional classroom! For Greek students, I focus on grammar and reading, tailored to the dialects and time periods that you are most interested in. I've worked with everyone from elementary school age, to undergraduates; I'm happy to individualize lessons to fit your needs as a student and help you succeed!
