About James
People always ask me, is learning Mandarin hard? To that, I say, there is a saying in Chinese, Are there truly easy or hard things in the world? If you do it, hard things become easy, if you do not, easy things become hard (天下事有难易乎？为之，则难者亦易矣 ；不为，则易者亦难矣). If you are willing to put in the effort, Mandarin can be a piece of cake!
For the 12 years of my primary and secondary education, the medium of instruction was Mandarin. I was taught Math, Science, History, and Geography in Mandarin. Which makes me familiar with a lot of special terms and lingo in their respective fields. I am not only fluent in everyday conversations but can decipher classical proses (文言文) and am familiar with a majority of them, e.g. the analects (论语). I will orientate the lesson to best suit your needs and desired outcomes.

Lessons are available online or in person, all lessons are 1-2-1. Through my experience as a tutor, the most effective lesson length is about an hour. I have tutored over 300 hours of A-level Physics so you know I am very patient. I recently started tutoring GCSE Mandarin and am looking for more students. Although I am a native speaker, that has not compromised my ability to teach in English as proven by my IELTS score of 8.0. I can tailor my lessons specifically for you, so whatever method suits you the most, I'll do my best to teach you in that way.
