About Xinchen

I am a luxury hospitality professional who has been teaching Chinese Mandarin part-time for 7 years. I have taught 27 mature students over the years and 20 of them are now working and living in China. I have also given Chinese lessons to children between 7 - 9 years old.

About the lesson

My teaching methods are student-focused. Rather than acting as an authority figure and telling the student what to do, I take the role of ‘facilitator’, guiding students through the learning process. I spend time getting to know each of my students personally and find out what motivates them to learn effectively and then I design the courses accordingly. The result proves the methods to be very effective as most students show long-term interest and commitment. I am proud to say that many of my mature students are now living in China with the language skills and cultural awareness that I’ve equipped them with. Those who are still living in the UK show consistent interest in learning Chinese, therefore invest time and effort to improve their language skills. I also love teaching children, it is the most rewarding to see them grow and when they speak to me in Chinese, it always puts such a big smile on my face!!
