About Lila

I am an experienced Chess tutor with 17 years of teaching students from school to college levels. Over the years, I have successfully guided around 200 students, helping them improve their skills, confidence, and love for the game. My teaching philosophy is centered on patience, clarity, and practical learning. I believe that understanding concepts deeply is more important than memorizing moves, and I focus on developing both strategic thinking and problem-solving skills in my students.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching Chess is centered on building both skill and confidence in every student. I focus on developing strong fundamentals, including tactics, strategy, openings, middle-game planning, and endgame techniques. I also teach related subjects such as backgammon, checkers, Risk, and Settlers of Catan, helping students strengthen their logical thinking, pattern recognition, and strategic planning across games.

I believe in a tutoring style that combines compassion, clear communication, creativity, and accountability. I start by understanding each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning goals. Lessons are personalized to match their pace and style, making sure they feel supported while being challenged to grow.

I use practical examples, puzzles, and real-game scenarios to make learning engaging. Students are encouraged to analyze moves, explore alternatives, and reflect on outcomes, which helps them think critically and make better decisions under pressure.
