About Betty

Chemistry tutor with 12 years of experience teaching advanced high school and college students. Have taught around 350 students, helping many prepare for competitive exams, research projects, and graduate-level organic chemistry. My teaching philosophy is built on mechanistic reasoning and synthetic strategy. I focus on building deep understanding of organic reactions while developing research skills. Notable achievements include helping over 50 students secure top ranks in national chemistry olympiads and guiding several to publish research papers. I create a supportive, intellectually challenging environment where questions are celebrated. I keep detailed records of each session to track progress and adjust methods as needed. Whether you are preparing for competitive exams or pursuing research, I tailor every lesson to your specific goals.

My teaching approach for Chemistry and related subjects is built on mechanistic reasoning, stereoelectronic principles, and synthetic strategy. I connect organic photochemistry and pericyclic reactions to natural product synthesis and drug discovery, so you understand the deeper logic of organic transformations. We break down topics like photochemical reactions, cycloadditions, sigmatropic rearrangements, and stereoelectronic effects into clear, visual frameworks. I encourage creative thinking by asking you to design multi-step syntheses and predict reaction outcomes. Motivation comes from setting research-style goals and celebrating each successful synthetic design. Integrity means I give honest feedback, never overlook mechanistic details, and always adapt to your learning style. For Chemistry, we cover photochemistry (excited states, photochemical pathways, sensitizers, quenching), pericyclic reactions (Diels-Alder, electrocyclic, cycloaddition, sigmatropic), stereoelectronic effects (anomeric effect, conformational analysis, orbital interactions), advanced organic synthesis (retrosynthesis, protecting groups, asymmetric synthesis, total synthesis strategies), and reaction mechanisms (ionic, radical, concerted). We also work on literature search, mechanistic elucidation, and scientific writing. I also teach related subjects that support your chemistry mastery: Physics for Chemistry – spectroscopy and quantum chemistry. Biology for Chemistry – natural product biosynthesis and enzymology. Mathematics for Chemistry – computational chemistry and molecular modelling. In every lesson, I use case studies from total synthesis and my own students. For example, I show how one student mastered Diels-Alder stereochemistry using a simple orbital diagram approach, then we apply that to your current problems. I share stories of students who improved by designing synthesis routes daily. My sessions are interactive and research-driven. We solve problems, propose mechanisms, design syntheses, and discuss current literature. I assign homework like designing a synthesis for a target molecule, proposing a photochemical mechanism, or writing a mini-review. I adapt my pace to your goals, whether for exams, research, or competitive tests. I never compare you to others, only to your previous self. I keep detailed notes of each lesson so we always build on what we did before. My goal is to make you a confident, strategic, and research-ready organic chemist.
