About Jessica

I am an enthusiastic, engaging tutor who has helped a range of students of differing abilities to achieve around 2-3 grades above their previously expected grades. As a 3rd year Chemistry student at Imperial College London, having consistently passed each year with a First Class Honours, I am a committed, diligent individual who works hard to achieve the best for everyone I work with.

Throughout and before university, I have tutored over 15 students across the sciences, at a range of levels including (but not limited to) the 13+, GCSEs and A-Levels.Having given lessons to over 15 students for the past few years across the sciences and the piano, I have developed a robust teaching methodology that I adapt and tailor to each student.

I am immensely passionate about tutoring as seeing the students' curiosity for and interest in the subject develop has always been extremely rewarding to me. In addition to the maths and sciences, as well as the Piano (having passed Grade 8 ABRSM Piano with a Merit), I am keen in aiding students to excel at interview.

About the lesson

I pride myself in adapting my teaching style to tailor the needs of each student. As well as offering the fundamentals of providing engaging, everyday examples or visual cues and breaking down complicated concepts to be grasped easily, I ensure to support each student in reaching the answer by asking high-level and indepth questions to consolidate their understanding.

Tutoring in the sciences and in maths across GCSE to A Level standard comes naturally to me as I achieved A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at A Level very recently. Thus, as well as the technical knowledge, I have a fundamental understanding of how to be awarded top marks in exams based on the different syllabi that are followed by the student.

Once I have determined their overall understanding of a topic, I develop their knowledge appropriately by using course textbooks and resources, whilst asking questions on the topic to consolidate their understanding of the topic.

Once this knowledge base has been achieved, I use past paper materials and additional questions to sharpen students' examination skills and techniques to prepare for and to excel in the exams.
