About Tani
Hi, I'm Tani! I studied chemical engineering at Swansea University, graduating with a 2:1, and I'm now doing my master's in engineering and management at King's College London. Maths, chemistry and physics have been a huge part of my life for years now, so I don't just know this material; I genuinely enjoy it, and I think that comes through when I teach.
I still remember what it felt like to get stuck on a topic and feel like everyone else understood it except me. That's actually what shapes how I teach now. I never assume a concept has clicked just because a student nods along, so I check in often, and I'm always happy to explain something a different way, or three different ways, until it actually makes sense.
Outside of my studies, I work in retail, which might sound unrelated, but it has taught me a lot about patience, really listening to people and explaining things clearly without overcomplicating them. I bring all of that into my lessons.
My goal isn't just to help a student get through their next test. I want them to walk away actually understanding the subject and feeling a bit more confident about it, because that confidence tends to stick around long after the exam is over.

My teaching style is practical and student-led. Rather than working straight through a textbook, I like to start by figuring out where a student's understanding breaks down, then build from there with worked examples, past paper questions, and real-world applications. As a chemical engineering graduate, I am used to breaking complex problems into manageable steps, which is exactly the skill GCSE maths, chemistry, and physics students need most. I explain concepts in simple language first, then bring in the technical detail once the basics feel solid, and I check understanding regularly rather than assuming a nod means it has clicked.
I typically run sessions of sixty to ninety minutes. This gives enough time to review homework or recent classwork, work through new material, and finish with practice questions, without the lesson dragging or losing focus. I am flexible on length and breaks depending on what a student and their parents prefer.
I teach GCSE-level students in maths, chemistry, and physics, and I am comfortable working with students at different starting points, whether they are aiming to consolidate a grade they already have or need to build confidence from a weaker foundation. I am based in East London and can teach in person locally or online.
