About Dr Manu Ducrocq

I am Manu, a Chartered Psychologist, Cognitive Neuroscientist (PhD) and experienced University Lecturer with over 20 years of experience in psychology, research, teaching and human performance.

I currently teach postgraduate psychology at Brunel University London, where I lead modules in research methods, statistics and biopsychology, and supervise MSc research projects. I have also taught at Birkbeck, University of London, and have extensive experience supporting students from a wide range of academic backgrounds.

What I enjoy most about teaching is helping students make sense of things they initially find difficult. I believe that even complex topics become much easier to understand when they are explained clearly, approached from different perspectives and connected to practical examples.

I am naturally enthusiastic, curious and approachable, and I genuinely enjoy sharing knowledge, discussing ideas and helping students develop confidence in their abilities. Having taken a less conventional route through education myself, I understand that everyone learns differently and that academic success is not about fitting into a particular mould.

Whether you are an undergraduate finding your feet, an MSc student tackling statistics or a PhD researcher working through a challenging project, I provide patient, personalised and academically rigorous support.

My aim is not simply to help you overcome an immediate difficulty, but to give you the understanding, confidence and independence to succeed in your studies and beyond.

About the lesson

I am a PhD-qualified Cognitive Neuroscientist, Chartered Psychologist and experienced University Lecturer with over 20 years of experience in psychology, research, teaching and applied human performance. I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at UK universities, including Brunel University London and Birkbeck College London, and have supervised numerous Undergraduate and Postgraduate research projects.

My Teaching Approach

I believe that effective teaching is about developing genuine understanding, confidence and independent thinking, rather than simply memorising information.

My approach is friendly, supportive, interactive and tailored to each student’s needs. I enjoy making complex ideas accessible and helping students see the connections between psychological theories, research and real-world applications.

Whether you’re struggling with a particular topic, trying to understand statistics or developing a research project, I adapt my teaching to your level, learning style and goals. I encourage questions and discussion, helping you understand not just how something works, but why.

How My Lessons Work

Sessions typically last 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged depending on your needs.

Lessons are delivered online and are highly interactive. We can work through difficult concepts, discuss research ideas, explore practical examples or use statistical software together.

I tailor each session to your immediate priorities while also helping you develop the knowledge and skills to work confidently and independently.
