About Susan
Over the course of about 6 years, I have worked with hundreds of students in a variety of settings and subject areas. I have taught English abroad to elementary students; done reading and math intervention as a paraprofessional for grades 2, 4, 5, and 6; substitute taught; worked as a private math tutor for students from kindergarten through grade 11; and taught in a mixed-age Montessori middle school. I love working with students to help them overcome challenges and be successful in their academic efforts!

As a certified and Montessori-trained adolescent teacher with 2 years of classroom experience and 4 years of private tutoring experience, my goal is to make learning fun and inspiring! I am a follower of John Dewey, who said that education should be led by the child, not by the adult. In that spirit, I focus on getting to know each of my students as unique individuals so that I can tailor my approach to their particular ways of learning and incorporate their passions into our lessons.
