About Gayani
My name is Gayani Dewundara, and I am a dedicated educator specializing in History and Social Studies with over 10 years of full-time teaching experience at both middle and high school levels. Throughout my career, I have helped students succeed across a wide range of curricula, including AP History, Cambridge, Edexcel, and IB programs, consistently leading them to achieve outstanding academic results. Many of my students have gone on to earn top marks in national and international exams, thanks to a structured, engaging, and student-focused teaching style. I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in International Studies, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, a Master’s degree in Leadership in Education, and a diploma in Curriculum and Instructional Studies (ongoing at UBC). I focus on creating structured, engaging sessions that make even the most challenging History and Social Studies topics easy to understand. Whether you're preparing for AP, IB, Cambridge, or school-level exams, I offer a balanced approach that combines concept clarity, critical thinking development, and exam-focused practice.
Also, I have extensive experience working with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with ASD, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other exceptionalities. I apply a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach and use strength-based strategies to make content accessible for all learners. I also have experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Positive Behaviour Support Plans, and incorporating assistive technologies to support success.
