About Madeleine

Hi!

My name is Madeleine Cruz. I hold two degrees in Education from Georgia State University and Kennesaw State University. I am a published author of the Young Adult novel "The Strangers We Call Friends". I have written creatively for as long as I can remember holding a pencil.

I have four years of experience in teaching grades K-5 in both traditional classroom settings as well as private tutoring sessions. Regarding grades and ages beyond the realm of Elementary, my three-year experience is solely in private tutoring sessions. I also have five years experience of working with children in multiple capacities such as an after school counselor, summer camp counselor, gymnastics and soccer coach, and dance teacher.

About the lesson

"Words are hard". Not only is this statement a fact that most people, regardless of age, gender, level of education, etc. would agree with, but it is a phrase that I have both said and heard for a majority of my adult life, especially in recent years.

Whether you are an author looking for an extra pair of eyes on your next project, an aspiring writer who wants someone to help them hone their craft, a student who needs help working on written assignments to get the best grade, or a parent of a young child who wants to get them the support that can help boost their reading and literacy skills, you've come to the right gal!

As a published author of the novel "The Strangers We Call Friends" and a certified teacher with degrees in Education from Georgia State University and Kennesaw State University, I am not only well versed in methodologies of teaching English/Language Arts to a wide variety of students, but my creative background allows me to apply creative approaches to the curriculum I am providing.

My creative approach is always going to vary from student to student because I use my first lesson, which is always free, to get a better understanding of not only what the student is looking to gain from their sessions with me, but who they are, what they are interested in, things that can help me personalize my approach to my sessions with them.

The only thing that would be the same across the board for all of my sessions and students is a brief moment, no more than three minutes, of meditation prior to getting down to business. I have found that allowing students to take a moment to clear their mind before getting into work, their focus and concentration on the subject increased substantially.
