Hey there, my name is Em! I'm a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and payroll operations leader who loves teaching the next generation of payroll professionals. I tutor candidates for the FPC and CPP certifications and coach early-career practitioners or those looking to add new tools to their portfolio who want confident, job-ready skills.

My tutoring philosophy centers on meeting you where you are, and removing barriers to learning, to help you achieve success. We’ll start with a short diagnostic to map your strengths and weaknesses to exam topics. From there, I build a personalized plan that blends:
Scaffolding & worked examples for tricky calculations (gross-to-net, supplemental wages, garnishments).
Active learning & scenarios that mirror real payroll cases you’ll see on the job and on the exam.
Retrieval practice and spaced repetition to make knowledge stick and reduce repeat mistakes.
Universal Design for Learning (visuals, checklists, decision trees) so complex rules click your way.
What we can cover:
• Payroll concepts & compliance (FLSA, overtime, bonuses, exempt vs. nonexempt)
• Taxation & withholding (FIT, FICA, FUTA/SUTA), reciprocity, taxable vs. nontaxable fringe, imputed income
• Multi-state rules, SUI, locality taxes, third-party sick pay
• Garnishments, levies, child support, benefits & pre/post-tax deductions
• Accounting interface (GL mapping, reconciliations) & year-end (W-2, 941 balancing)
• Test strategy: blueprint mapping, timing drills, formula sheets, “must-know” thresholds (updated in session)
Each meeting ends with a concise recap, targeted practice, and a clear next-steps plan. I’m patient, practical, and relentlessly clear—no judgment, just progress. Whether you’re aiming to pass FPC/CPP on the first try or want to level up your day-to-day payroll confidence, I’ll help you build a strong, test-ready foundation and a toolkit you can trust at work.
