About Juan Sebastian
Hello everyone! My name is Sebastián Casallas. I'm Colombian, 23 years old, and currently living in New York City. I have a degree in Philology and Languages, a field that has fascinated me since a young age. Additionally, I'm interested in geopolitics, translation, education, travel, and meaningful cultural exchange. In the past, I have worked as a teacher for diverse audiences in France and Colombia. I am passionate about creating meaningful conversational environments that allow students to improve their foreign language skills.
I have over two years of teaching experience in Colombia and France. I hold a DALF C2 certification in French and have completed two seminars on teaching Spanish to foreigners as part of my professional development. My classes have a predominantly conversational approach, emphasizing a dynamic and interactive framework of action-oriented learning.

Passionate about conversational classes, I foster a dynamic and participatory environment to develop strong communication skills. My approach is based on adapting the content to the individual needs of the students, promoting cultural immersion and active learning. I constantly seek to update my pedagogical skills to provide quality education.
Regarding my ideal lesson plan, Initially I like to start with creating awareness around the initial topic, then through preliminary documents, I provide a general and detailed understanding. Subsequently, guided practice and explanation on the session topic take place. Then, individual and group work provides an opportunity to develop autonomy and generate questions about the topic. Finally, I assign tasks to be completed and conclude with feedback on the session covered.
I have worked with all types of audiences, from 13-year-old children to 40-year-old adults. I have a preference for people close to my age and individuals who are fully committed to learning a second language.
