About Melinda
I am New York State Certified to teach kindergarten through 12th grade ESL. I have a Master's Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and have been teaching for more than 15 years. I have been teaching both TESOL and ELA since 2009 and have worked with students from 5 years old through adults. My Bachelor's Degree is in English Literature from Marist University and my Master's Degree is from State University of New York, New Paltz.

I have experience with ages 5 through adult. I will work with you where you are and we will build on the skills you already have. We will use a variety of videos, games, and conversation to help you reach your goals. ELA: I have taught high school English classes and have helped prepare students for English Language Arts state exams. ESL/ENL: I have worked with beginning through experienced language learners. (Yo hablo español un poco y puedo ayuda si usted habla más en español.) My ESL/ENL lessons are in English, but I encourage my students to use their home language to transfer skills. I believe all students have skills that can be leveraged for advancing their learning.
