About Jessica

Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a professional cello tutor with over 14 years of experience and I have performed with a number of orchestras and ensemble groups.

I am passionate about sharing my love of music with others, and have had the pleasure of teaching cello to students of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics, or an intermediate player looking to refine your technique, I am confident that I can help you reach your goals.

In my lessons, I strive to create a supportive and enjoyable learning environment. I believe that everyone has the ability to make music, and it is my goal to help you discover your own musical voice.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy sewing, video games and scary movies. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your musical journey!

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is to foster a passion for cello in a positive learning environment, my positive tutoring style is one that focuses on building up a student's confidence and skills, rather than just correcting their mistakes.
I achieve this by encouragement, supportive feedback, flexibility in approaches to learning, and most of all collaboration in defining goals.
I will encourage students to ask questions and be an active participant in their own learning, rather then just telling them what to do.
Typical lengths of a lesson is between 30-60 minutes, and I teach beginner to intermediate cellists of all ages.
I have been playing cello for 14 years and play to a grade 5 AMEB standard.
