About Kate
I did my undergraduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University in multiple areas before getting a Master's in Education. Due to health reasons, I did not teach in classrooms for long, but instead I started tutoring during Covid. I specialize in finding education gaps and helping students fill them. I also can explain topics in more than one way until it clicks. We’ve all had the experience with the teacher who answers questions with ‘I’ve already explained that’, or ‘It’s in your book’ as though every student learns in the exact same way. The reality is that many students need real world examples, or even just a way to better tie what they are learning back to what they already know. I did, and I work to provide that type of teaching to my students.

My SAT prep lessons are 2.5 hours long with one full hour of Math and one full hour of English with additional time for questions.
Test Prep – We cover the basics of what makes the SATs different from other tests and how to approach it.
Math – We will do a general review of every math subject that is on the test, though we will dial in on topics that the student needs more work in as well as some of the favorite question types on the SATs. This means going back to Algebra and working all the way through Trigonometry.
English – Not only will we focus on how to approach the reading and writing portions of the SAT, but we will also dive into Latin and Greek roots and words. This will help you understand novel words on the test, as well as boost your reading comprehension.
I do assign homework, and you will be expected to take practice tests outside of our time together in addition to the practice problems we will go over in sessions together.
I am also willing to work with groups, but will still charge per student!
