About Sneha

Music has been part of my life for over a decade. I started training in Carnatic music at a young age and earned distinctions in both junior and senior level exams, and alongside that I spent 10 years learning light music, picking up Western music, Bhavageethe, Ranga Geethe, and Janapada Geethe along the way. I taught myself guitar too, just out of a love for accompanying my own singing.

Performing has been a huge part of my journey - I’ve sung on and over 200 state and national-level stages and even got to be part of Indian Idol Season 14, experiences that taught me as much about discipline and stage presence as any classroom ever could. During college, I served as Head Secretary of the Indian Music Association at Mount Carmel, where I got my first real taste of organizing and guiding fellow musicians.

Professionally, I’m a full-time schoolteacher, which has shaped how I teach music too — I’m big on structure, patience, and meeting each student exactly where they are. I speak Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and English, so I can teach comfortably in whichever language makes a student feel most at home with a song.

What I love most about teaching music is watching someone go from hesitant and unsure of their own voice to confidently singing in front of others. That transformation is exactly what I hope to help you or your child experience.

About the lesson

My classes are designed for absolute beginners as well as students who already sing but want to build a stronger foundation. I start with the basics — breathing, voice control, pitch, and rhythm — through Carnatic fundamentals (sarali varisai, alankaras) before moving into song practice, since a strong classical base makes it much easier to pick up any style later, whether that’s light music, Bollywood, or devotional songs.

Each class is tailored to the student’s language and music preference — I teach in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and English, and can work with film songs, devotional music, Bhavageethe, or Western pieces depending on what motivates the student most. For students who also want to learn guitar, I can incorporate basic chords and accompaniment alongside vocal training.

Lessons are structured with clear weekly goals, regular practice assignments, and periodic mini-performances (even just for family) to build stage confidence — something I emphasize having performed at 100+ stages myself. I keep the pace flexible: patient and slow for young beginners, more technique-focused for older students preparing for exams or performances.
