About Priyadarshini
My name is Priyadarshini and I am classical singer with 15 years of training in Carnatic classical music. I have been an instructor locally for the last 3 years and I have seen significant growth in students who have been persistent in learning. Not only did their vocal chords reach their potential but their overall activity in terms of academics, extra curriculars and work life balance has improved exceptionally. I wanted to expand the horizon of learning of such old and traditional music. The base of modern age music stems of the roots of this age old genre of music and practice of such music would ultimately result in betterment of singing in the modern genres.

Carnatic Music is a dynamic art form. The class would be teaching musical tuning and pitch knowledge while practising vocals. Each class would be for 1-1.5 hours depending upon the student’s commitment. Shruthi, Laya and Raga would be the basis of every lesson. The mastery would be varnas and every lesson would have different levels notes for each lesson would be provided before we begin the chapter.
The syllabus would be inclusive of sacralised swaras, janta swaras, hecchu stayi, taggu stayi, daatu swaras, alankaras, Geetas, Swara jhathas and Varnas.
Carnatic classical music has many benefits it would improve one’s motor skills, coordination, mathematical and listening skills, lastly it would cause self-discipline and perseverance in the learner.
For a college student, having a certification in such a difficult and dynamic extra curricular would add to their transcript.
