About Luke

A Secondary School Maths teacher (QTS) Hi there, My name is Luke. I am currently working as a mathematics mentor at the Westminster Academy school. I hold a QTS certificate and I am participating in the National Tutoring programme as an academic mentor. My work requires me to work side by side with the classroom teachers. I worked with year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. I provided support for KS3 and 4, kept tracking and reporting the progress of learning from the students that I worked with; Helped them to build confidence and motivation in GCSE mathematics learning. Students have overall greatly improved their results in assessment on topics in Mathematics and get higher grades. Personally, I like to help people with learning and learning from others. In addition, I graduated with a biomedical science degree and can support people who need Science learning. During university studying, I took my spare time teaching Mandarin (Chinese language) in a weekend language school. Moreover, I organised a summer camp with others during the summer holiday for those who want to learn Art and language. I love to teach people about Mandarin and Chinese culture. These experiences and training have really helped me to develop my skills and knowledge in teaching. Lessons will begin with a brief assessment to determine target areas then personalised lessons to ensure areas of weakness become strengths. About the lesson

1st Lesson: I will assess your level of Chinese language and ask your target for your learning. It could be travelling, job or simply wanting to master a new language. Learning resources will be recommended. If you have already chosen a textbook or resource, we can work it out together! Regular lesson: If you book a regular lesson with me. I will keep tracking your progression in Chinese learning by checking your homework or have a one-to-one conversation with you. In addition, if you want to take a real exam. More detailed training will be provided. Location for our lesson: Personally, I have been using a local library or coffee shop with GCSE students. The place is a public study area and there are many facilities to be used. Sometimes, the change of environment can have a huge impact on learning!

He also works hard to print as many maths practise papers as he can to ensure that all his students pass. I went from getting mainly grade 3s in maths to getting 4s and nearly 5s.
