About Wendy

I am a Cambridge University educated, fully-qualified teacher P.G.C.E QTS. I am available to tutor in English Language, English Literature, French, Spanish, Italian and EFL. I offer a first free 30 minute session for getting to know you and assessment purposes. I tutor all levels from KS2 upwards and I am also an experienced 11+, 13+ and Entrance Exams English tutor. I tutor at KS3, KS4 and KS5 and for all the main exam boards at G.C.S.E, I.G.C.S.E and A Level including AQA and Edexcel. For GCSE I have extensive experience of boosting students' grades up to +3 to grade 9 or from a low starting grade to a strong pass. I achieve this by focusing on exam strategy and applying the assessment objectives to your answers. I also provide my own model answers for further guidance, which students have found very helpful. While the focus is always to deepen your knowledge and understanding, we might need to fill any gaps in your knowledge as and when they arise.
In addition, I currently deliver online tuition to students, many of whom I prepare for the academically selective school admission process. I also deliver EAL/EFL tuition to international students who are preparing for Entrance Examinations and/or IELTS and support EAL students already at top independent schools in the UK. I have particular experience with students whose first language is Chinese, helping them to elevate their vocabulary and writing skills. I have also designed and taught small group courses for children aiming for 11+ or 13+ and examples of these courses are Vocabulary Enrichment; Creative Writing; Persuasive Writing and Reading Comprehension Skills.

About the lesson

As a teacher my approach is patient and flexible. The learner is at the heart of what I do and my aim is for all students to make rapid progress but also to enjoy their learning. As a result I enjoy planning effective and engaging lessons which are tailor-made for my students. I strongly believe that one-to-one tuition can deliver real results for all types of learners due to the focus on individual learning needs and styles. Tutoring is my passion and in my spare time I love to create my own resources, many of which are available on teaching resource websites.
