About Luke
Hello! I'm Luke, a Cambridge history graduate currently doing a modern British history masters at Oxford.
I have studied history continuously from Common Entrance all the way through GCSEs, Pre-U exams, an Undergraduate degree, and now at Graduate level. I have a real passion for the subject studying periods spanning from the classical to the present day. I believe this is reflected in my results having achieved straight A*s and As at school as well as a very high 2.1 at Cambridge (71%).
Whilst relishing any opportunity to research / teach history, my interest in the subject really only manifested itself by sixth form. In other words, I am acutely aware that those taking exams in history might not be as enamoured with the subject as much of those of us that choose to study it at university!
My interest in the subject comes from the fact that history is more than just remembering events and their dates. Studying the past is not only fascinating in of itself - particularly seeing how people lived their lives but also valuable in providing explanations for the present. Above all, in these odd times that we are living in history reassuringly tell us that not everything is unprecedented!
I am based in Hampstead and am more than happy to get on the tube and travel a few miles.
