About Luca

Hi! I’m a Modern Languages student at the University of Cambridge, specialising in French and Russian, and also fluent in Spanish and Italian. I achieved A*s in all three languages at A level, not just due to language fluency but because I understood exactly how to maximise marks using the mark schemes, which is something I now teach students with a focus on structured, exam focused preparation. Despite being English, I grew up in France and had to learn French from scratch at a young age in a French school, so I know exactly how to explain complex grammar and idioms in a way that makes intuitive sense for non-native speakers. Since coming to Cambridge from a state school background, I’ve worked with GCSE and A Level students, particularly those who receive less one on one support, helping with writing, speaking, and forming arguments using real world evidence that goes beyond the textbook. I’m very flexible over the summer and can adapt lessons to any level, goal, or ability, whether you’re preparing for exams or learning for enjoyment!

About the lesson

My lessons are fully tailored to the individual needs, goals, and learning style of each student. Whether you're aiming for a top grade at GCSE or A Level, looking to build fluency from the ground up, or need targeted support with grammar, translation, or oral expression, I’ll create a structured and personalised plan to get you there. I place particular emphasis on exam technique, ensuring that students understand not only the language but how to meet the specific demands of mark schemes and secure top band results. For school age learners, I often incorporate past paper practice, model answers, vocabulary expansion, and speaking drills, all grounded in the relevant exam board’s criteria. Lesson length is typically 60 minutes, but I’m flexible and can adapt to shorter or longer sessions depending on your schedule. I aim to create an encouraging, focused atmosphere where people feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and pushing their ability further each week. I use a mix of digital resources, real world materials (articles, videos, etc.), and guided exercises to keep lessons dynamic and practical. Whether you're a beginner, a returning learner, or working towards a specific academic milestone, I will help you progress with clarity, confidence, and consistent results.
