About Sean
I'm an 18-year-old tutor based in East London, currently applying to study Law at the University of Cambridge. I achieved a grade 9 in GCSE English Language and a grade 8 in English Literature, and I am now studying English Literature at A-level, so the skills and texts GCSE students need are fresh in my mind.
Law and English have a lot in common: both reward close reading, clear arguments and precise writing. These are exactly the skills I help students develop.
I remember the pressure of GCSEs well, so I aim to make lessons supportive, structured and focused on real progress. I'm reliable, punctual and always prepare lessons in advance. Parents are welcome to ask for updates on their child's progress at any time.

My lessons focus on the skills that earn marks in GCSE English: analysing language and structure, using quotations effectively, planning and writing clear essays, and producing strong creative and persuasive writing.
Lessons typically last between 1 and 2 hours. In the first session, we look at the student's recent work, target grade and exam board, so I can plan lessons around their weakest areas. A typical lesson includes a short explanation of a skill, guided practice on a real exam-style question, and feedback on what to improve. Between lessons, I can set a short practice task and give written feedback on it.
I can cover AQA English Language and Literature, including set texts such as Macbeth, An Inspector Calls and A Christmas Carol, as well as Power and Conflict poetry and unseen poetry. As exams get closer, lessons shift towards timed practice and exam technique.
Lessons are for students in Years 9–11, as well as students in Years 7–8 who want to build confidence in reading and writing.
I achieved a grade 9 in GCSE English Language and a grade 8 in English Literature, and I am currently studying English Literature at A-level. I have helped friends prepare for their GCSE English exams and achieve grades 7–9.

Thank you so much, grade 9 achieved thanks to him :)
• Sean was my English tutor who helped me throughout the course of my GCSE’s. Due to my dyslexia I was constantly struggling with revising alone. Before him I was predicted a 3 in both English Language and English Literature in which I was told it was very unlikely I would progress into sixth form. Sean dedicated 5 hours a week to help me in both language and literature, encouraging me to push myself to my full potential. I went on to achieve an astonishing grade 7 in English Language and a grade 7 in English literature, allowing me to pursue my dream subjects in sixth form today.
Sean was a classmate of mine and regularly offered me support. He is highly intelligent and academically curious. He will offer you thought-provoking material which will enhance your understanding and enable you to reach those top marks. Trusting in Sean is a decision you will never regret.
Sean was the BEST tutor ever! He helped me go from a 3 to an 8 in English literature and also helped me get a 9 in English language. He’s able to help me approach questions in ways I understand personally and is very perceptive and flexible with how he helped me write essays and understand how to write answers so examiners can give top marks.
Sean is one of the best English tutors I know. I've seen firsthand how much effort he puts into helping people actually understand the language, not just memorise stuff for a test. We worked through some tricky essay writing together and he broke it down so simply it just clicked. He's patient, explains things properly, and actually cares if you're getting it or not. 100% recommend him to anyone on here, you're in good hands.
