About Rubina

I have always enjoyed education and strive to do well in all areas.

Maths and Sciences were the subjects I enjoyed the most and it is sad to see so few people entering the STEM subjects. I hope that the passion I have for the subjects will encourage more students to explore these areas and find enjoyment in them.

About the lesson

Initial sessions will always be a baseline test to see where you are at and how you learn. This will enable me to plan future sessions appropriately.

I like collaborative learning through discussions and scaffolded questioning. I will provide you with the core information to ensure you have the required knowledge, but we will also look at how the content can be applied in real-life situations, as well as looking beyond the content to give you a better scope of the applications.

I advise KS1-3 to take 1hr sessions per week per subject. For KS4/5 I would suggest 1.5hrs per week per subject. (The extra half an hour will allow for a better depth of understanding as well as application).

Typical 1hr sessions will be broken down into:
- 10 mins of previous lessons review or an intro to the new topic
- 30 mins of content knowledge
- 10 mins or targeting questions focusing mainly on recall and understanding
- 10 mins of review to clarify or clear any misunderstandings - h/w set if agreed/needed

I encourage all my students to engage in the learning process and work to become part of the planning process. This ensures that you are working with me to gear your learning towards your weaknesses and goals and allows you to take control and become more independent learners.
