About Bethany
Hi, I’m Bethany, a teacher and Cambridge graduate who is really good at making complex ideas simple.
I totally understand the feeling of overwhelm and stress that can come with wrapping your head around some of the ideas in Philosophy (and talking about them in an essay!)
I’m here to listen to exactly what it is you find tricky, and then guide you through it at a pace that’s just right for you. When you start to understand the subject better (and see that you’re actually very good at it!) you’ll start to enjoy it so much more. And this will help alleviate a lot of your stress.
An ex-student once told me that "having you as a teacher has reminded me of why I love Philosophy”. This is what I aim to achieve for all my students - to help you understand this wonderful subject better so you can come to love it too. Oh, and to ace your exams! I really look forward to working with you.

I help GCSE, A Level, and IB students taking Philosophy, Religious Studies, Theology, and Ethics. You may be working on: • Understanding key concepts and ideas • Analysing key concepts and ideas • Improving your essay writing technique I break down complex topics into small sections and explain each section slowly and clearly. I check you've understood one section before moving on to the next one, helping you grasp the complex whole at a pace that’s right for you. With carefully spaced repetition, I help you embed what you’ve learnt into your long-term memory. This makes things much easier when revision and exams come around and you often need to recall things you learnt over a year ago! As well as effective teaching methods, I also focus on building up your confidence in your own abilities with plenty of encouragement and positive feedback. I learnt most of my teaching methods from the teachers at Michaela Community School, which has the highest Progress 8 score in the country. I really look forward to helping you succeed.
