About Zareef
It is essential to know that knowledge is based on two foundations: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving. Once these skills become embedded into a person, they will be able to pursue any field they wish to.
My teaching focuses heavily on these two core skills, which invokes students to question and discuss the subject matter. It is also important for each student to know that they are, firstly, extremely capable of pursuing any field of study they like, and secondly, the more they think about a subject, question it, seek clarification, and even propose new ideas - the more they are able to attain mastery of the subject.
I firmly believe each individual learns differently - some people are visual learners, some learn from practicality and pattern identification, some require extensive theoretical knowledge to better understand how to best approach a subject. My teaching is centered around foundational pillars all of which induce flexibility whereby I aim to teach and train each student on an individual level, taking into consideration their strengths and weaknesses.

Hi,
I am a university professor in the California State University system where I teach several courses in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Machine Learning & AI. My teaching style is divided into four main pillars:
(1) Complementing theory with skills,
(2) Understanding each student's motives, and providing critical and beneficial feedback,
(3) Reflecting on whether what I taught was sufficiently communicated, and
(4) Having discussions with my student(s) to make learning interactive.
A typical lesson would begin by exploring a topic's concepts (the why's and how's), which would then lead into learning the necessary skills accompanied with that topic. For example, if the topic was hypothesis testing, from statistics, then the theoretical information would first be covered, followed by a practical demonstration, and then supervising the student with their own practice question.
As a university professor, I have taught and still am teaching students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. However, I am also aware of what is needed for preparation for university - which is a great interest of mine. Hence, I am open to teaching students who are planning on entering College, or currently enrolled in a Community College or university.
