About Joshua, Magnus
I have a background in electrical and electronics engineering, with a strong interest in robotics, mechatronics and practical CAD design. I’ve used Onshape for personal engineering projects involving parts, assemblies and electronics-related designs.
I like breaking complex ideas into simple steps and keeping lessons practical and easy to follow. I’m happy to work with complete beginners as well as learners who already know the basics and want help improving their modeling or working through a project.

I teach CAD by working through actual designs rather than just explaining where each tool is. I normally start by finding out what you already know and what you want to be able to make, then we build the lessons around that.
For beginners, I usually start with sketches, dimensions and constraints before moving on to things like extrudes, cuts, patterns, assemblies and parametric modeling. I also like to explain why I’m doing something a certain way, because I think understanding the design process is more useful than simply memorizing commands.
A normal lesson is around 60 minutes, although we can make it shorter or longer depending on the topic or project.
My background is in electrical and electronics engineering, and I’ve used Onshape for a number of personal engineering, robotics and mechanical design projects. A lot of my CAD work has involved designing parts that need to fit together properly, creating assemblies and working through practical design problems.
My lessons are mainly for beginners and intermediate learners, including students, hobbyists and people getting into CAD for 3D printing, electronics, robotics or general engineering projects. I’m also happy to work through a project you already have if there’s something specific you’re stuck on.
