About Matt
I'm a UCD graduate about to start my Master's, and honestly I didn't always love school growing up. It felt like there was no end to it. It wasn't until I started figuring out my own way of learning that things actually clicked, and I ended up genuinely loving it. I spent the last year as Education Officer with UCD's Students' Union, which was a mad, brilliant year that taught me a lot about listening to people and staying calm under pressure. I'm easygoing to work with, and happy to adapt to whatever a student actually needs.

Every student gets to a topic in their own way, and that's basically what I'm there to help with; not just handing over one fixed method and hoping it clicks. I've got a bit of an unconventional way of looking at things myself, and I like giving students room to figure out what actually makes sense to them, rather than just following a script. Lessons are pretty student-led we work on whatever's most useful at the time, whether that's a specific topic, exam technique, or just building confidence. I'll usually set homework between sessions, but I also like getting students to reflect a bit and think about how they're studying, not just how much. I've got a Pharmacology degree and 3 years' tutoring experience, and I teach Junior and Leaving Cert Biology, Chemistry and Maths, usually in 90 minute lessons.

Matt is a brilliant tutor. He’s really easy to get along with and explains things in a way that actually makes sense, no matter how complicated the topic is. He’s patient, supportive, and never makes you feel silly for asking questions.
