About Hamish
I have always been passionate about education. Both in terms of learning myself as well as assisting others with their own learning journeys. I am quite a naturally bright and inquisitive person but have had my own struggles with the education system due to issues such as dyslexia and ADHD to name a couple. Secondary school and tertiary study presented a very difficult journey for me with a lot of stumbles along the way. I have however always been able to get myself back up again and can happily say I have just acquired my third University qualification, this time at Masters level. As at the time I wasn't even sure I could complete an undergrad program, this is something that I am very proud of. Due to not everything always coming easy to me it has meant throughout my educational and career journey I have built up a lot of resilience and empathy for others that may not have the easiest time for whatever reason. I find this is exceptionally beneficial as an educator. I am open to looking at my students and the process that we approach our learning with in a much wider lens than I feel many of my peers are.

I like to take an adaptive approach to education as I don't think anyone learns quite the exact same. Happy to cater all lessons and materials to those that suit the student. After an extensive career in education I am well equipped and familiar with a broad range of learning styles and how to best utilize these for each individual. Creating a learning environment that is designed to best meet their own needs rather than a prescribed top-down approach that so many students struggle with in a traditional school environment.

Hamish is my friend of over 2 years who taught me to drive more difficult routes (not an easy task as I have dyspraxia). He is an experienced maths teacher with a Masters degree in Environmental Science.
