About Carrie

I studied Psychology at A level, at university and for my PGCE, in addition I have 17 years experience teaching A level and BTEC Applied Psychology to students from all walks of life.

I love Psychology and am passionate about helping people to develop their knowledge and understanding of the subject to not only benefit academically but also personally.

Knowledge can empower us to take charge of our own lives, by understanding what motivates us and what holds us back we can develop the ability to navigate our way through challenges and set backs to realise our full potential.

I am also a qualified Health and Life Coach and firmly believe that when we are confident, motivated and have belief in ourselves we can thrive and as such I not only teach my students but coach them in areas of self-belief and stress management.

Learning is more than just preparing for an exam, learning can open doors to the world beyond our immediate experience.

I believe in life long learning and encouraging my students to become curious beyond the specification so that when exams are complete they still want to continue learning. I love the quote 'Only when I have learnt all that there is to learn will I stop learning'. I am still a student and will always be a student.

About the lesson

I adopt a practical and applied approach to teaching psychology finding that students learn most effectively by doing.

Using my experience as an examiner and my in depth understanding of exam specifications I embed the development of writing skills and critical analysis into my teaching to ensure students are prepared to answer exam questions covering all assessment objectives.

I believe that learning should be fun, engaging and tailored to the preferences of the individual student, therefore I aim to relate content to the real world, and experiences of the student, as much as possible.

I am qualified to support students mental wellbeing and aim to provide mindset and confidence building strategies within my delivery to ensure that they not only learn theory but also benefit from it personally.

I believe education should be encouraging, motivating and rewarding and continually strive to ensure my teaching mirrors these values.
