About Kevin

I am 28 years old and in the process of completing my BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Statistics, my second degree. I have a passion for numbers, teaching and helping others to reach their full potential. What's a better way to combine these passions, than to tutor mathematics and statistics? I have been helping younger students with relative coursework that I have already completed, during both of my individual degrees. I am up to date and current with all the coursework and curriculum. I love learning new things and passing on what I have learnt to others. Patience and practice is very important, as not everyone understands mathematical concepts first time, and that's ok!

About the lesson

My lessons are for GCSE and A level students. My techniques and methodology would include: 1) Visualising the problem 2) Asking students to explain how they would approach the problem 3) Making connections 4) Applying strategies to solve certain problems I do insist on students informing me on which areas of the subject they are struggling with and to bring problem questions with them. I go through these questions with them, giving them detailed solutions and explaining as I do so. I find that when tutoring mathematics especially, it can be difficult for a student to concentrate effectively. Therefore my lessons do include some specified short breaks. When booking multiple sessions straight after each other, I suggest a break of 5 - 15 minutes between sessions.
