About Maria
Hello! I’m a qualified British Early Years and Primary teacher currently living in Al Ain. I have twelve years of experience teaching the British curriculum, specialising in EYFS and Key Stage 1. During my teaching career I have supported many young learners in developing strong foundations in phonics, reading, writing and early math.
I am passionate about helping children build confidence and develop a positive relationship with learning from an early age. I understand that every child learns differently, so I take a patient, supportive approach and adapt my teaching to suit each child’s needs and pace.
Alongside my classroom experience, I have worked closely with children who need additional support to strengthen their early literacy and numeracy skills. My goal is always to help children feel successful and capable while making learning enjoyable and engaging.
I am currently on maternity leave while caring for my baby daughter, and I am also a parent to two teenage children. This gives me both professional and personal insight into how children develop and learn at different stages. As both a teacher and a parent, I understand how important it is for families to feel confident that their child is receiving high-quality support in a nurturing and encouraging environment.

My lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive and tailored to each child’s individual needs. As a qualified British EYFS and Primary teacher, I focus on building confidence alongside developing key skills in phonics, reading, writing and math.
I use a structured but fun approach to teaching, incorporating phonics games, interactive activities, movement and hands-on learning to keep children motivated and focused. This structured approach helps create consistency and routine, which is particularly important for young learners as it allows them to feel secure, build confidence and make steady progress in their learning.
Lessons are typically 45 minutes long, which works well for younger learners and helps maintain concentration and engagement throughout the session. Each lesson usually includes a short recap of previous learning, focused skill practice and a fun activity to reinforce the concept.
I have twelve years of experience teaching in the UK and internationally. I work with the English National Curriculum as an EYFS and primary teacher, supporting children in early reading, phonics development, writing and early math skills.
My lessons are ideal for children in FS1, FS2, Year 1 and Year 2 who may need extra support, confidence building, or preparation for school. I also support children learning English as an additional language and those preparing for the Year 1 phonics screening check.

Maria taught my son in Reception. Her natural warmth and enthusiasm meant the transition into school life was an enjoyable experience for him. He constantly looked forward to learning, maintaining an excited and enthusiastic attitude throughout his year as Maria’s pupil. I genuinely feel Maria helped him to establish positive, strong foundations in that first year that hold true to his approach to learning today. I highly recommend Maria.
We felt incredibly lucky to have had Maria teach our 5 year old boy. She had such a wonderful balance of being warm, friendly, and approachable, while still keeping sessions focused for an active little boy!
She made learning feel enjoyable rather than a chore and brought out his confidence in a gentle, encouraging way.
We saw such a positive difference not just in his learning, but also in his enthusiasm and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to any family looking for a caring, skilled, and dedicated tutor.
