About Pedro
My name is Pedro Volta, I'm a Brazilian guitarist and composer. I started studying music with the help of my father who is a guitarist also and accompanied many Brazilian singers such as Gal Costa, Rosa Passos, Leny Andrade, Fátima Guedes, Maria Rita(Elis Regina's daughter) Eliane Elias and so on. So I was brought up in a musical environment and learned everything I could about Brazilian music, that includes the songs of Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, Marcos Valle, Johnny Alf and all the great Bossa Nova masters. Even so I was recognized by João Gilberto's son, João Marcelo, as the person who came the closest to his father's guitar style. Brazilian harmony is very unique and specific at times, and rhythm is even more so, so if you want to learn the real Brazilian style, you oughta learn it from a Brazilian. I don't have any degree or graduation, I'm self-taught, just like most of Brazil's masters.

My methodology is very versatile when it comes to adapting to the student's interest, what he wants to learn and improve. I'll first get to know the student, chatting throughout the first lesson to understand the student's background and then, based on that I'll apply, what I believe to be, the best tips and exercises that can make the student improve his or her musicality. That includes playing with a backing rhythm track, performing exercises, talking about theory and harmony and even recommending albums for the student to check out. Almost every class I'll exemplify something and record my video that I'll send to the student after the class ends, so he can study the video on his own time and pace.

Pedro is one of the best guitar teacher I had in my life! I learned so much about the guitar and about music in general with Pedro. Pedro is a very organized and patient teacher. He both plays acoustic and electric guitar on our lessons. We worked with chord changes, different comping rhythms, playing melodies on the guitar. Really great lessons and I highly recommend him!
