About Kai

My name is Kai and I am currently a rising senior at Brandeis University studying Politics and Legal Studies. I am expected to graduate early this fall to begin applying to law school. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, I applied to college wanting to study music and biology of which I clearly took a different route. More recently I interned for the Boston Probation Department working with clients to better establish their case in court and helping them to complete probation. This summer I am working for a Judge in the Cambridge District Court whilst preparing for the LSAT. Studying for the LSAT right now has reminded me of the challenges in studying for crucial standardized tests such as the SAT and I hope to aid my tutee in climbing that hurdle.

About the lesson

SAT PREP
-structured lessons mirroring both traditional SAT prep methods as well as those from my own experience in studying for the test.
-Will include specific books to utilize and take home assignments on a weekly basis.
-Lessons can range from one to two hours depending on the preference of tutee. The first will typically consist of reviewing assignments followed by daily instruction and practice.
-Tutee can and should also request specific instruction dependent on what area of the SAT they would like to improve or focus on (Reading, writing or math) upon which the lessons will cater to

General Math (9-12th Grade)
-offering lessons for all levels including honors and AP (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calc, AP Calc AB and BC)
-these lessons will follow a similar format to that of the SAT Prep in incurring assignments simultaneously with instruction and drill practice

Personal Experience and Methodology
-In studying for both the SAT and general courses in high school, I frequently hit road bumps in study strategies. I also went through the usual routine of enrolling in prep courses and buying several dozens of textbooks in trying to prepare for tests. It wasn't until I figured out how my personal strategy to studying that I saw improvements on my scores. What I hope to achieve through these tutoring lessons is to help the tutee figure out what study strategies do work efficiently for that individual. It is a false assumption that staying disciplined in a prep course or just purely repetitive studying provides results. If that were true then students in prep courses would be consistently producing 1500+ SAT scores or 4s and 5s on AP exams.
