About Mafalda
I am an Economics student at the University of St. Andrews. I’ve lived in Portugal, Brasil, and the U.S. before moving to the U.K. and I hope to work in Sports Consulting after I graduate. I’ve teached English to Brazilian high schoolers and English to a lovely Croatian immigrant in the states. Both groups said I was very entertaining and kept coming back for more classes, and all of my students could manage full conversations in after three months of classes. So get ready to be fluent and enjoy the journey.

My teaching method is very flexible to the student I am working with. I’ve taught English to a 12 year old boy with ADHD who’s last desire was to sit in a chair and speak nonsense, so I had to be more patient and be more creative such as start with translating musics he liked and giving shows in English to watch as homework. When I worked with high schoolers planning to study in the U.S. in need and desire of being fluent, I was able to give a heavier workload, start with small conversations where I mixed English and Portuguese, giving texts to translate and explaing the cultural roots of expression.
