About Marie

Being French and living in Ireland is a great adventure, but sharing your language and culture with others is a great experience. I have given grinds before and understand how difficult learning a language can be. And sometimes we need a private lesson because we are too shy to ask questions in class or the teacher goes too fast... No panic, we will go at your own pace!

About the lesson

The goal will be to help you reach the level of French that you need to succeed. Whether you need help in grammar, spelling, reading... we'll work on that. The lesson will be one hour minimum, and more if you want! Experienced in leaving cert expectations but all ages and levels are welcome!

I speak French because I was born and lived in France for 20 years.

I believe the movie "Camping" represents the French culture very well.
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?
The French culture is a lot about sharing. When we eat especially, it's a moment that we share with friends and family. We call it "l'apero".
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
It matters because this is my native language and I enjoy helping other people speaking it.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
I believe the main difficulty is for the students to ask all the questions they need to understand and be confident learning. I make sure to create a safe place for the student, go at their pace and make sure they understand.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
I remember in language class, no one wanted to speak, afraid of being judged and that others will laugh. And I think I can help you improve your confidence to be able to combat this feeling.
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
When I was travelling to English speaking countries, I was making mistakes, people would correct me, and I would compare both languages. When they share the same logic and when they don't.
What makes you a Superprof in language?
Because I learnt to speak English, I understand how an English-speaking person can understand a new language and the logic behind it. I can then relate to the student and explain the common grounds and differences better between both languages.
