About Daisy

In the editorial department at Faber & Faber, I worked with some phenomenal literary writers (Sebastian Barry, Jane Harris, Andrew O’Hagan, Kazuo Ishiguro, Willy Vlautin), as well as some brilliant crime authors (Peter Swanson, Kate Hamer, Kristen Lepionka, J M Gulvin, Sarah Ward). I have a BA in Philosophy and Creative Writing from Princeton, and an MA in Publishing. Freelance, I’ve worked as an editor, copyeditor, copywriter, and proofreader, (yes, those are all different things!), as well as doing manuscript evaluations through the Faber Academy writing school.

I love the early stages of writing – when an author needs feedback, encouragement, and a wall to bounce trial material off. I’m equally enthusiastic about the final, fine-tuning phase, and everything in between. Whatever you are writing, whether you’re a novice or a published author, I’d be delighted to help you, as you go through the rollercoaster of emotions that is trying to express yourself in words.

About the lesson

If you have writing aspirations and could do with some editorial input, or if you just want to improve your craft, I’d love to help.

**One-to-one tuition (£30 per hour)**

When we're working together, one-to-one, I can give you fully tailored writing guidance. We can start right at the beginning, with exercises to get you comfortable with creative writing, and lessons on avoiding common pitfalls. Or, should you choose, we can fast forward to the detailed work of developing your personal style, or focus on editing a specific project together. I'll discuss your aims with you and shape sessions to suit your needs. With all tutoring sessions, I'll suggest reading and follow up writing exercises, but how much work you do outside of the session is totally up to you.

**Full manuscript evaluation (£50 per 10,000 words)**

Recommended for writers with a full draft of a book. You'll receive a 2,000-word written report and we'll have a 1-hour meeting (in Bristol or online) to discuss it. I’ll give you feedback on your book's plot, structure, dialogue, and character development, as well as an honest evaluation of the quality of the writing. I'll suggest how to take the project forward, and what to work on. I'll also give you some suggestions about where the book might fit in the current market.

**A guide to publishing (£100)**

I'll ask you to submit up to 10,000 words and a synopsis of your work in advance. We'll meet for 1 hour (in Bristol or online) to discuss the path to publication. I'll give you personalised advice about what steps might make most sense for your project, and which agencies or publishers you might want to approach. Please note: Making direct contact with publishers or agents will still be up to you. I'll simply elucidate the process, as someone with an in depth knowledge of how it works, and point you in the best direction.

**Group writing workshops (£60 per hour for groups of 2 – 8 people)**
