About Diann
Standing in the studio after 4 years of teaching, I often find myself refining the smallest details of a student's grip. My work draws on a deep familiarity with tuning by ear, left hand agility, and the precision required for scales and arpeggios. I lean into the nuance of spiccato and staccato bowing to help students find their unique sound.
Developing consistent tone production and accurate rhythm and timing is central to my process. I guide players through shifting positions and complex classical repertoire while reinforcing fundamental music theory. It is quite rewarding to see these technical pieces click into place during our time together.

Admittedly, the hardest part of violin is staying patient while the ear catches up to the fingers. I draw on my BMus degree to break down the mechanics of the instrument into clear, manageable steps.
This technical focus ensures that music theory and physical agility develop in tandem. Weekly practice modules are assigned with every class to anchor our progress.
These exercises help solidify the work we cover during our hour. I focus on concrete results that you can hear right away. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss a starting point.
