About Avery
Teaching piano is how I ensure music stays alive in our busy world. Many people assume formal training kills the fun, but I find that building technique actually gives you more freedom to express your ideas. I draw on my degree from the Melbourne Conservatory of Music to teach essential skills like hand independence and jazz improvisation.
My 13 years of experience help me guide players through rhythm and timing while refining their classical repertoire. You will gain a solid foundation while keeping the joy of playing at the center of your practice. I look forward to hearing the music you create as you reach your own performance goals.

Stiff fingers often betray a lack of relaxation when hitting those early complex chords. A rigid wrist feels like trying to walk through deep water before you have learned to swim properly.
I use my conservatorium training to soften your approach so the music flows naturally through your hands. During our 9 minutes of initial focus, we clear away the technical tension. I conduct a diagnostic playing assessment before we set a learning plan for your specific needs. You will find that my technique instruction remains calm and direct at all times.
