About Akasha
Hi everyone! My name is Akasha, and I’m delighted to be your online English tutor. I have a strong passion for helping students become confident readers and writers, and I truly enjoy making learning simple, enjoyable, and personalised. In my lessons, I focus on creating a warm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace. My personal approach to teaching English reading and writing focuses on creating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student feels confident to participate. I believe that literacy skills grow best when learners have meaningful opportunities to explore language, practise regularly, and connect what they learn to their own lives. Because each student learns differently, I adapt my teaching methods to suit individual needs, learning styles, and abilities. In reading, I prioritise building strong foundations through phonics, vocabulary development, and guided reading activities. I encourage students to ask questions, make predictions, and discuss what they read so they develop both comprehension and critical thinking skills. I also create opportunities for shared reading and independent reading to help students gain confidence and enjoyment. In writing, I use modelling, scaffolding, and step-by-step practice to guide learners through the writing process. This includes planning, drafting, editing, and improving their work. I introduce clear writing structures, support students in expanding their ideas, and encourage them to express themselves creatively. Positive feedback is an important part of my approach, as it helps students feel motivated and proud of their progress. Overall, my aim is to make reading and writing enjoyable, accessible, and meaningful. I want students to feel inspired, capable, and excited to develop their literacy skills.
