Typically I will start with a get to know each other session. This is where I would begin to understand not just the course/class the student is having issues with but as well as teaching/learning styles the student is struggling with as well as what seems to work for them. After this session we would then make a plan for the following sessions. I have not only been through training for tutoring core subjects but I also have been through numerous training workshops on studying, note taking and information retention to help potentially prevent the need for a tutor in the future. I have tutored many Biology and Math classes at the college level as well as currently working as a tutor within a K-12 public school district.
