About Milo

Following on from a Biomedical Science degree at the University of Manchester, I have developed my biological knowledge to a professional and highly detailed standard. I have also gained an in-depth and comprehensive scientific understanding during a placement in Italy as part of my degree, allowing me to become well-versed in the scientific world. During this process, I have had the opportunity to tutor GCSE and A-level students online who have seen their grades strongly improve in preparation for exams. It is this ability in transferring my own knowledge to other students in a comfortable and relaxed setting which has allowed them to progress at such a fast rate and I truly wish to continue providing this support for others.

About the lesson

My sessions will take a relaxed approach to ensure the student feels as comfortable as possible in the learning space, which I believe truly maximises the benefit gained from the lesson. At the beginning of the lesson we will look at the learning principles we are hoping to gain throughout the session to give an initial understanding of what to expect which will then be followed by a clear explanation of the key processes to be taught on the day. During this section, I will provide examples for these processes to provide context and allow the student to be 'walked through' so the problem can be put into action. After, I will then guide the student through questions in order to present the best way to attack unique problems before allowing the student to attempt these themselves with any help necessary. We will then return to the learning principles to determine if the student has fully understood, or to see if more work may be needed. Before sessions I will make sure to thoroughly research the topic myself to ensure the student is given a comprehensive overview of the area while also making it easy to understand. This way the student can be prepared for any type of question. During the session I will use diagrams and imaging to aid learning rather than through direct wording. I will also encourage the student to ask any questions when confused without pressure since my only concern is to make certain they understand the content. Lessons are typically 1 hour, however this can be flexible. My experience is largely at GCSE (UK level), but as a graduate in biomedical science I am also confident to tutor for A-level students and younger age groups.
