About Jesse
My journey into the realm of programming began with Harvard's CS50p course, which taught python at the undergraduate level. It transformed my understanding of programming, proving that with the right instruction, the complexities of Python could be mastered with surprising ease. This stood in stark contrast to my previous years of struggle with the language. I then used python for all manner of personal projects and online ventures, a process which only bolstered my love for this powerful skill.
Upon commencing my studies as an aspiring Biomedical Engineer at Monash University, the advantages of this programming knowledge became abundantly clear. The concepts I had mastered were not only applicable to Python but extended seamlessly across various programming languages and web applications, setting me apart from my peers.
However, it was disheartening to witness the standard approach to teaching Python at the university level. The lack of passion and inadequate emphasis on core concepts were starkly evident. I had already decided I wanted to tutor and I could not think of a better skill to teach than Python.
I am motivated by the desire to share the incredible capabilities of Python, a language that I believe, when taught with the right mix of passion and clarity, can unlock unprecedented opportunities and creativity in programming. It is my sincere hope that I can help you unlock the full power of this amazing language and save you years of wasted time trying to learn it from uninteresting and uninspired sources.

My teaching philosophy centres on the foundational principles of programming, which I believe are key to unlocking its vast potential. My approach involves a focused exploration of these core concepts, ensuring students not only comprehend but can skilfully apply them in various contexts. I cater to a wide age range of 10+ years old and above, and accommodate students who are just beginning or intermediate in their python journey and looking to go far beyond. Each session, ranging from 60 to 120 minutes, is structured to foster a deep and practical understanding of Python, paving the way for my students to thrive in their programming journey and excel in their coursework.
This is achieved through brief but focused lessons on programming and code based problem solving, then spending the remainder of the time guiding the student through problems and tasks they bring (or I provide if needed).
My qualifications include being enrolled in a bachelor of biomedical engineering at Monash University, and a certification from Harvard's CS50p course, which is python specific.

Details
My base rate for one on one tutoring is $40 per hour, for I also teach groups of 2-6 for $30 per hour per student. I am willing to travel to meet students, however drives longer than 20 minutes require a small fee.
