About Clara
Hello! I am a Biology tutor with an MSc degree and over 4 years of experience teaching 200+ students at GCSE, A-Level, and university level. Biology is a subject that genuinely excites and fascinates me — the complexity of living systems at every scale, from the molecular machinery inside a single cell to the dynamics of global ecosystems, is endlessly remarkable, and I love conveying that sense of wonder to my students and watching it fuel their motivation and engagement.
I cover the complete Biology curriculum: Cell Biology and the Cell Cycle, Genetics and Inheritance in depth, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Human Physiology including all major organ systems, Ecology and Ecosystems, Evolution and Natural Selection, Microbiology, and Plant Biology. I am experienced with all major exam boards and always align my teaching precisely to the student's specific course. My Biology teaching is built around the conviction that genuine, connected understanding is what separates students who can confidently answer any exam question from those who can only answer the ones they have already seen. I spend significant time in every session helping students build a visual, interconnected understanding of biological systems — using detailed diagrams, structured flowcharts, and concept mapping techniques to show how individual facts and processes link together into logical biological wholes.
For the essay and extended-answer components of Biology exams — which are often where the most marks are decided — I teach a clear, explicit four-part framework: state the precise biological point, explain the underlying mechanism in full detail, provide a specific and relevant example, and link back clearly to the question being asked. I practise this framework with students using real past exam questions across multiple different topics until it becomes completely automatic and natural. I also cover data interpretation, graphical analysis, and experimental design thoroughly in every relevant session, ensuring students are fully prepared for the quantitative and investigative dimensions of modern Biology assessments.
All of my teaching is precisely tailored to each student's specific exam board specification and syllabus, and I use extensive past paper practice at every stage to ensure that preparation is always exam-focused, relevant, and directly useful. My goal in every session is for students to leave understanding more, feeling more confident, and being more capable of translating their knowledge into marks.
