About Ciara

I'm a qualified Biology teacher with a PGCE and QTS from the University of Oxford. I have experience teaching in both the UK and Kuwait, working with students from diverse backgrounds. One of my IAL Biology students earned the highest mark in the world. I’m passionate about making complex topics clear, and I provide a structured, supportive learning environment where students feel confident and prepared. With years of experience in exam-focused teaching, I know how to guide students towards real progress and strong results. About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to Edexcel IAL Biology students (IAS and IA2) and follow the official specification closely. Each session is 2 hours long and includes clear visual explanations, live discussion, and exam-style practice. I focus on building understanding, exam technique, and confidence through structured teaching, interactive questioning, and regular feedback on homework and tests. I’m a qualified teacher with QTS and a PGCE from the University of Oxford, and I’ve taught both in the UK and in the Middle East. My lessons are ideal for motivated Year 12 and 13 students preparing for the Jan, May, or June exam sessions.

Perfect! I started tutoring with Ms Pittaway because I was struggling with my exam technique, and she has helped support me through providing engaging lessons where we go through questions and she explains how to approach them depending on their style. Additionally, she has an incredible ability to identify weaknesses - whether knowledge gaps or issues related to answering questions - and address them directly.
