About Lizzy
have a BSc in Zoology from the University of Durham and a PhD in Developmental Biology from University College London. Since completing my PhD in 2016, I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of stem cell biology and as a teaching associate on the undergraduate medical programme at Manchester University. I am now a tutor at Sheffield University, teaching foundation year Biology.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in teaching and supervision of Biology and Medicine foundation year and level 1-3 undergraduate students and have tutored GCSE and A-level Biology alongside. I am passionate about helping students navigate this fascinating subject and find it incredibly rewarding seeing my students improve in confidence.

I have a passion for biology and love to share this enthusiasm with my students. With sessions tailored to individual needs, I aim to help students gain a deeper understanding of biological concepts, improving their confidence and setting them on a course to achieve their goals.
In the run-up to exams, I help students with their revision techniques and planning, working through past exam questions and revisiting areas of the curriculum of difficulty.
I also offer guidance in university applications. With experience teaching undergraduate Biology and Medicine, I have a good understanding of what is required and how best to communicate this.
I understand that everyone learns differently and employ a range of techniques and teaching styles to suit the needs of each individual student. I also have a firm "no question is a stupid question" policy, creating a safe space in which to learn and build confidence.
