About Adriana

I utilize visual aids such as diagrams, charts, graphs, and videos to present information. Visual representations can help most students, particularly those students with language-based learning differences better understand scientific concepts.
In all of my classes, I incorporate hands-on activities and experiments to engage students and promote active learning. Practical demonstrations and experiments can provide concrete experiences that enhance comprehension.
I use a multisensory approach, which appeals to different senses by incorporating auditory, visual, and kinesthetic elements into my lessons. For example, I use models or manipulatives that students can touch and interact with, and I provide verbal explanations to accompany visual materials.
I break down complex scientific terms and concepts into simpler language and use plain language explanations, avoiding jargon as much as possible, and providing definitions or synonyms for key vocabulary.
I present information in smaller, manageable chunks to help students process and retain the content. I also avoid overwhelming my students with excessive information. For example, I use bullet points, headings, or concept maps to organize information and aid comprehension.
I provide graphic organizers to help students visualize relationships between concepts and organize their thoughts. These visual tools can assist in understanding and recall.
I differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities by offering a variety of activities and assignments that allow students to express their understanding in different ways, for example through written work, visual presentations, or hands-on projects.
I gradually release responsibility to students by providing scaffolded support. For example, I start with more guidance and structure, and then gradually reduce support as students gain understanding and confidence.
I foster collaboration and discussion by encouraging group work, pair activities, and class discussions This can provide additional opportunities for comprehension and engagement.
I use educational technology tools and resources that cater to diverse learning needs, such as interactive simulations, online tutorials, and captioned videos to improve understanding
I constantly assess students' individual needs adjust my teaching strategies accordingly and use tutorials frequently for extra help.

I have been teaching all High school sciences for the last 14 years (private, public, and online schools). One of my responsibilities as an e-learning teacher at iTutor, an online teaching service for NY Public Schools, was to teach and coach students to improve their study habits and academic performance. My students came from numerous school districts in NY State. My lessons were, therefore, original and customized. I also worked as an online teacher for a company based in China, so my Science students were bi-lingual, which required me to write content to fit their needs.
